Writing Exercise

It's been a while since we've done this. I wonder if you still know how.

This is a fun little exercise to get your creative juices flowing! It only takes 5 minutes. So give it a try and see what you end up with. Feel free to type it, write it by hand, or leave it in the comments section. I'd love to hear what you come up with! :)

I will give you two words. Use one of them as the first word of your story and the other word in the first sentence. It can be a whole story or just the start. Write as fast as you can and don't stop. Write whatever comes to mind. Don't over think it! Start writing when you see them. Remember, you only have 5 minutes. SO YOU HAVE TO STOP AT 5!!
Are you ready??

Planting the roses in the hot sun, Mae Kelly felt like a baking Thanksgiving turkey. It was sweltering outside with a suffocating humidity level. Such was the norm in Charlotte, North Carolina during the month of July.
Mae did not particularly enjoy planting roses, but Ma and Pa needed her to do it. The Kelly family owned a small bed and breakfast on the edge of town. Every summer, the Kelly family planted various flowers and plants to brighten the path to their cottage. Though the finished product was beautiful, Mae hated sweating day after day in the sun.
Mae was working alone this summer; her older brother and sister had now gone away to universities to study. Mae, at 15 years old, was the only one left to work for her parents.

That was five. I'm not a great writer, and I'm certainly out of practice. Thanks for the chance to do it, though; I need to work on this.
